Custer, Montana |
The Visitor Center at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument (actually 50 miles from Custer) |
As the Battle of Little Big Horn happened to take place just down the road, chances are good that Custer was named for General George Armstong Custer. Custer achieved some amount of "fame" after he led his 242-man company of cavalry into an attack on a much larger force of Cheyennes and Sioux. The cavalry were wiped out to a man. |
