Pine Bluffs is located in eastern Laramie County, almost against the Wyoming-Nebraska State Line. This was where the old cattle trails between Texas and Montana intersected with the Union Pacific railroad line. In 1868, Pine Bluffs consisted of a square canvas shed, a slab shack with a stone chimney and a tent. By 1884, Pine Bluffs was the largest cattle shipping point on the Union Pacific Railroad. Today, Pine Bluffs is a small town just off Interstate 80 at exit 401.
