Vega State Park
Formerly known as Vega State Recreation Area, Vega State Park is centered around a beautiful alpine lake (8,000' elevation) next to Grand Mesa National Forest. Favorite pastimes at Vega State Park are hiking, boating, water skiing, picnicking, fishing, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. OHV riders and snowmobilers can access hundreds of miles of trails in the national forest from parking areas in Vega State Park. There are 4 campgrounds with a total of 109 campsites situated around the lake. There's everything from walk-in tent sites to pull-throughs with electric hook-ups. There's even 5 cabins available for rent all year round.
The daily vehicle park pass costs $7, unless you've already paid $70 for the annual Colorado State Parks pass. The basic and walk-in campsites run $16 per night while the electrified campsites run $20 per night (some do have water in the summer but none have sewer). Anyone with a valid park pass and camping permit can use the sanitary dump station. The Group Picnic Area costs $60 for the day, plus a $10 non-refundable reservation fee. The cabins hold up to 6 people each and run $70 per night plus the $10 non-refundable reservation fee. Pets are an extra $10 per night in the cabins. To camp in the park requires that you also pay the daily vehicle pass fee. There are coin-operated showers available at the Early Settlers Campground.
