Yampa River State Park
While the Visitor Center and Headquarters of Yampa River State Park are just west of Hayden, there are 13 access points to the Yampa River that stretch for 134 miles along the river, almost to Dinosaur National Monument. This means miles of excellent fishing opportunities and miles of Class I-V river boating. There are also 6 camping areas along the river. The main campground is at the Headquarters area with 50 campsites: 5 group campsites, 10 tent-only sites and 35 electrified RV-capable sites. Another aspect of the Yampa River State Park is the Elkhead Reservoir. Elkhead Reservoir is now open to fishing and boating from 8 am to 10 pm. In the works are 2 swim beaches and multiple campsites.
The daily vehicle park pass runs $7, unless you already have the $70 annual Colorado State Parks pass. At the Headquarters Campground basic campsites run $16 per night while electric campsites run $20 per night. There are also teepees available for $25 per night. In the 6 Yampa River access campgrounds a basic site runs $10 per night. The Group Camping Areas all run $16 per site. The Group Picnic Area at the Headquarters costs $60 per day. The Conference Room in the Visitor Center rents for $100 per day.
