Loveland Pass

heading into Loveland Pass
The sign says it all...

Loveland Pass, where US Highway 6 crosses the Continental Divide between Loveland Basin and Arapahoe Basin. This is the favored road for hazardous cargo, skiers and people like me. Everyone else stays on the I-70 and passes through the Eisenhower Tunnel, going through the mountain instead of grinding your way slowly up the steep switchbacks and over the top of the ridge... then through the switchbacks on the other side. But what a great view...

It's a long climb up the hill but the scenery is excellent. There's a couple of good turn-outs so you can stop and take in the views. As you can see, I drove this in late February and the road was clear all the way. I didn't even run into much traffic until I was halfway to Keystone from A-Basin.
