McCammon, Idaho
In McCammon

McCammon is located at the western end of the Oregon Trail-Bear Lake Scenic Byway, against Interstate 15. The town is named for Joseph McCammon, the former Assistant Attorney General of the United States who negotiated and signed a treaty with the Bannock and Shoshone Indians on July 3, 1882 that allowed the sale of a portion of their reservation to the Utah & Northern Railroad that was necessary for that railroad to build a line northwards to the gold camps of Montana. The railroad built their route and made a siding at the present site of McCammon. Later on, a group of Mormon pioneers came by and set up shop near that siding.
