Union County is on the plains of northeastern New Mexico, up against Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.
Union County has had a number of ancient artifacts discovered in the county, including the first Folsom Point and several dinosaur fossil quarries.
Formed in 1893, Union County contains 3,831 square miles of land and 1 square mile of water. The county seat is Clayton.
