Medano 13 miles north of Alamosa on Highway 17, turn and go east 8 miles on Lane 6N to San Luis Lakes State Wildlife Area. Or, 17 miles north of Alamosa, turn and go east 4 miles on Twelve Mile Lane. |

Higel Permit required September 1 through February 14 (Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays, holidays only), closed February 15 to July 15 to protect nesting birds, area wildlife manager may authorize special educational or scientific uses during closures.
