C Trail
The C Trail begins about 1/4 mile southeast of Cedar City and works its way up the hill for 4.2 miles to that painted "C" that you see on the mountainside above. The route rises up and onto the edge of the Markagunt Plateau, one of the plateaus along the northwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Along the way you'll get views back out over that valley that contains Cedar City.
Cedar Breaks National Monument and Ashdown Gorge Wilderness are just off to the east, Indian Peak (9,784') is that mountain to the west. As you get further up, more and more of the nearby mountain ranges and valleys come into view. Supposedly the sunsets from the overlook are incredible but I don't know, the idea of making my way back down that hill in the dark...
The C Trail was built by volunteers working in conjunction with the Forest Service, Iron County, Cedar City and the BLM. The trail is open to non-motorized uses only: hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, in particular.
