Morgan County is in north central Utah. Morgan County was named for Jedediah Morgan Grant, the father of Heber J. Grant, a past president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The southern part of Morgan County is traversed northeast-southwest by the Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail through East Canyon and the area where East Canyon State Park is now.
