Peter Skene Ogden and his battalion of trappers passed through this area in the 1820's. John C. Fremont came to the Utah Hot Springs with Kit Carson in 1843. The town of Pleasant View was first settled in the early 1850's and lived under several different names until it was officially named Pleasant View in 1882. Back in the 1880's, the big draw to Pleasant View was the Utah Hot Springs Resort. The Resort was built in what is now the northwestern corner of Pleasant View and offered a 40-room hotel, swimming pools, hot springs bathing, a dance hall and a saloon. The hot springs may still be there but the Resort doesn't exist any more. These days, Pleasant View is a bedroom community for the workers of Ogden. The city is located at the foot of Ben Lomond Mountain, just west of North Ogden.
