Flaming Gorge-Green River Basin Scenic Byway
Red Canyon in Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area
The Wyoming sections of the Flaming Gorge-Green River Basin Scenic Byway encircle Flaming Gorge Reservoir on the west, north and east. It is these roads that give you access to the waters of Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This is pretty spectacular countryside and you'll get more than a few good views of it along the way. If you drive the 100-or-so miles of paved road straight through, you might be done in 2.5 hours, but for what... for all your efforts you'd miss some very different countryside: high desert scrublands interrupted by a dramatic, water-filled red rock canyon.
