Looking east across Driggs to the Grand Tetons |
The city of Driggs was founded by Don Carlos Driggs. While some of his descendants are still in the area, most moved to Phoenix, Arizona where the family founded Western Savings and Loan. National Geographic magazine once listed Driggs as one of the 10 best outdoor recreation destinations in the U.S. The Grand Targhee Resort of Wyoming is located about 12 miles east of Driggs on the western slopes of the Grand Teton Mountains. The Mountain Arts Festival happens in Driggs every year during July. This festival usually brings in more than 30 hot air balloons for 4 days of balloon rides, parades, games, a golf tournament, rodeo, bike races, a craft and antique fair and a fiddler's contest. In August is the Annual Bluegrass Festival. Because Driggs is west of the Grand Tetons, the whole area bills itself as "the quiet side of the Tetons." |
