Ackley Lake State Park

Ackley Lake State Park is located in Montana's Big Sky Country, in the eastern part of Judith Basin County in the foothills of the Little Belt Mountains. This 160-acre state park offers a diverse range of water recreation opportunities, plus bicycling, camping and picnicking. Stocked with rainbow trout on a regular basis, Ackley Lake is usually good for your daily limit of 10-15 inchers. The 226 acres of Ackley Lake also support populations of kokanee, brook trout, brown trout, mountain whitefish, longnose sucker and white sucker.

Open all year round, Ackley Lake State Park is classed as "primitive," meaning no camping fees are required. With 15 camp sites, vault toilets, grills, fire rings, picnic tables, 2 boat launches, this is still a pretty nice place to hang out for a few days. There's no drinking water on site so you'll need to bring your own. This is also a Pack it in, Pack it out site. Pets on a leash are allowed. The stay limit is 14 days in any 30-day period.

Ackley Lake State Park is located about 17 miles west of Lewistown: take US Highway 87 to Hobson, then go south 5 miles on County Road 400 to the signed access road to Ackley Lake. Go west 2 miles to the lake.
