Los Alamos County is cradled in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. The city of Los Alamos is most famous for the National Laboratory located there.
Formed in 1949, Los Alamos County contains 109 square miles of land and no significant surface water, making Los Alamos County the smallest county in New Mexico. The county seat is Los Alamos.
