Smallmouth Bass - Uniform olive brown color, upper jaw extends to eye, shallow notch between dorsal fins, vertical barring on sides.

Largemouth Bass - Scales on cheeks as large as on body, upper jaw extends beyond eye, shallow notch between dorsal fins, dark spots in rows along body, dark horizontal irregular splotches on sides. |
White Bass - Teeth in a single pathc on back of tongue, horizontal stripes less distinct on bottom half of body, deep body, seldom exceeds 3 pounds. |
Walleye - Milky eye corneas, large canine teeth, two fins on back, dark area on first fin. |
Northern Pike - Large mouth, sharp teeth, top fin at back, sides are gray-green with rows of yellow and white spots. |
Channel Catfish, Blue Catfish, Flathead Catfish - Long barbels about the mouth, small irregular black spots, no scales, sharp dorsal and pectoral spines, deeply forked tail. |
Crappie - Two dorsal fins joined, appearing as one, olive or dark green back, deep bodied, large lower jaw. |
