Go 2 miles north of Walden on Highway 125. At CR 8, turn and go east 6.8 miles to CR 8A, then another 0.8 miles east to a two-track road. Follow two-track road 0.6 miles southeast to parking area. This route provides the only access into Adams and Sand Creek State Trust Lands, unless you are coming across the Colorado State Forest.

Turn south and go 4.2 miles, then go east. Or, once 5th Street turns into CR 12, go 10 miles east to CR 29, then turn and go 0.9 miles to parking area. Parking lot west of dam and parking lot 1/4 mile north of dam.

For access to west portion of property, take access road 2.1 miles north, go left at fork, then go 0.7 miles to fence. Go through gate and follow road north on the west side of the fence for 1 mile. Take two-track road 0.8 miles west. Reservoir access also from BLM land.
