Atwood

Go 1/2 mile south of Atwood on Highway 63. Access is near the southeast corner of the property, next to CR 16.
ACRES: 160
OPEN: September 1 to May 31
HUNTING: White-tailed and mule deer, quail, pheasant, ducks, geese, turkeys, small game
RESTRICTIONS:

  • No hunting with centerfire rifles.
  • Reservations required. Call 800-846-9453, not more than 14 days before or less than 48 hours before hunt date. Failure to cancel (if needed) may cost you future reservation rights. 1 reservation per call, 1 reservation per day, reservations not transferable. Person making reservation must be licensed hunter and on the property at the coreect time. Check in and check out required.
  • For spring turkey hunt with limited turkey licenses for GMU 96, call Brush office at 970-842-6300.
  • Hunting allowed only on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, and President's Day.
  • 4 reservations issued per day, maximum of 4 people each: 2 reservations for the general public, 1 for mobility-impaired hunters, 1 for youth and their mentors. General public and mobility-impaired must hunt up-river from Highway 63. Youth and their mentors must hunt down-river from Highway 63.
  • Only deer hunting allowed on opening weekend of regular plains rifle deer season, and on opening day and first weekend of late plains rifle deer season.
  • Horses prohibited unless training hunting dogs in February, March and April (through Wednesday, before the opening of spring turkey season).

Bravo

Go east from Sterling on Highway 6 about 2 miles to CR 37, then turn north on CR 37 for 5.7 miles.

Duck Creek

Take the Crook exit from I-70 and go north on Highway 55 to town of Crook. At stop sign in town, continue north to CR 64 and go east on CR 64 about 1 mile to northwest corner of property.

OPEN: September 1 to February 28
HUNTING: Big game, small game
RESTRICTIONS: Be extremely careful when cattle are on the land.

Ford Bridge

Go 7.5 miles northeast of Sterling on Highway 138. At CR 40 turn and go east 1/2 mile to property.

HUNTING: Mule and white-tailed deer, ducks, geese, pheasants, quail, turkey
RESTRICTIONS:

  • No hunting with centerfire rifles
  • No other activity than deer hunting allowed on opening weekend of regular plains rifle deer season, and opening day and first weekend of late plains rifle deer season.
  • No paintball shooting.
  • Horses allowed only while training hunting dogs, only in February, March and April (through the Wednesday before the opening of spring turkey season).

Red Lion Ranch

From Crook, go northeast on Highway 138 for 8.5 miles to Sedgwick-Logan county line. Turn and go south on CR 97/1 for 1.25 miles to parking area. Parking area just off CR 97/1, just north of the river bottom.

Atwood

Go 3 miles southwest from Atwood on Highway 6 to CR 29.5, then turn and go 1/2 mile south.
ACRES: 180
HUNTING: Deer, small game, turkey, pheasant, bobwhite quail, dove, waterfowl.
RECREATION: Wildlife observation
RESTRICTIONS: No camping or fires allowed; No target practice allowed unless authorized by area wildlife manager; Closed to all uses except deer hunting on opening weekend of regular rifle deer season and opening day and first weekend of late rifle deer season; No horses allowed except when training hunting dogs and even then only in August, February, March, and April (up until the Thursday before spring turkey season opens).

Go 1/2 mile west from I-76 Sterling exit on US 6 to CR 370, then go 1.7 miles northeast.

  • Field trials may be authorized February, March and August only.
  • Horses not allowed except when training hunting dogs and then allowed only in February, March, April (up until Wednesday before spring turkey season opens) and August.

  • Minimum size for crappies is 10".
  • Except hand propelled watercraft used to set and pick up decoys and to retrieve downed waterfowl, boating is prohibited October 1 through last day of regular goose season.
  • Fishing restricted to 2 south dams and bank around outlet tower. Ice fishing restricted to within 50 yards of 2 south dams or 50 yards of outlet tower October 1 to last day of waterfowl season.
  • No boats allowed within 50 feet of outlet structure.
  • No hunting on the ice.
  • Vehicles limited to 250.
  • On Memorial Day weekend, waterskiing prohibited before 10 AM and after 7 PM.
  • No hunting from floating devices.

At Sterling exit on the I-76, go 1/2 mile west to CR 370, then 1 mile southwest to property. Southeast portion is private property. Deer hunting there with landowner permission only, as posted.

  • Minimum size for walleye and saugeye is 15". Only 1 walleye or saugeye in the agregate longer than 21" allowed per day.
  • Minimum size for wipers is 15", only 1 can be longer than 25".
  • Minimum size for smallmouth bass is 12".
  • Minimum size for largemouth bass is 15".
  • No boating allowed November 1 through last day of regular goose season except watercraft propelled by hand are allowed to set and pick up decoys and retrieve downed waterfowl.
  • No hunting allowed from dam.
  • Target practice allowed only in established areas.

Go 1/2 mile south of Atwood on Highway 63 to CR 16, then go east 1/2 mile.

From Merino exit on the I-76 go 1 mile north to US 6, then 3.3 miles northeast.

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Minimum size for wipers is 15".
  • Minimum size for walleye and saugeye is 15". Only 1 walleye or saugeye in the agregate longer than 21" is allowed per day.
  • No boating allowed that creates a whitewater wake. From October 1 through last day of regular goose season only hand propelled watercraft allowed to set and pick up decoys and retrieve downed waterfowl.
  • Camping and fires prohibited as posted.
  • Fishing from the dam allowed only from October 1 through last day of waterfowl season. Ice fishing allowed only within 50 yards of dam.
  • Vehicles limited to 250.
  • Sailing and windsurfing allowed only during July and August. No waterskiing allowed.
  • No glass beverage containers allowed.
  • No hunting allowed from floating devices. Hunting prohibited as posted.
  • Depending on water levels, weather and presence of birds, waterfowl hunting prohibited as posted.

Red Lion
