The Holy Cross Abbey is located on the east side of Canon City as you come into town on US 50 from Pueblo. You can't miss it: it's a beautiful structure that just draws your eyes. But it seems a bit out of place architecturally with the Victorian and Territorial structures that predominate in town. That's because this Gothic style structure was built in 1924. For many years it served as a boys' school but is presently home to approximately 20 monks.
