Ponderay is a suburb of Sandpoint, located on the northeast side of Sandpoint along the northern shore of Lake Pend Oreille. The main east/west road through Ponderay is Idaho State Route 200, also known as the Pend Oreille Scenic Byway. US Highways 2 & 95, also known as the Wild Horse Trail Scenic Byway, part of the International Selkirk Loop, travel north/south on the western side of town. Ponderay bills itself as "The Little City That Can" and as "The Gateway to Schweitzer Mountain Ski Area."
