Tamarack is an all-new, all-season destination resort nestled in the heart of the beautiful Long Valley above Lake Cascade. The two terrain parks are well-rated and there's about 30 kilometers of groomed cross country ski trails around the base of the mountain. Tamarack Resort filed for bankruptcy protection in February 2008 but reopened in December 2010 with five of the seven chairlifts operating (the other two lifts are tied up in a Bank of America lawsuit). Operations were funded by the Tamarack Municipal Association. Apparently the 2010-2011 ski season went well because there are plans already in place to operate the ski slopes for the 2011-2012 season (season passes are on sale). Osprey Meadows, Tamarack Resort's 18-hole signature golf course (designed by Robert Trent Jones II) is just southeast of the ski area base. It, too, was closed for a while in 2009 but reopened on July 25, 2009, operated by Raven Golf Management Company of Boise. |
