Hyde Memorial State Park

Hyde Memorial State Park is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains along the Santa Fe National Forest Scenic Byway. That means the state park is easily accessed from Santa Fe and sees a large number of visitors in the summer looking to escape the city's heat. Most of the park is closed in the winter but most traffic on the road is headed for Ski Santa Fe anyway. Hyde Memorial State Park is completely surrounded by Santa Fe National Forest and most of the hiking trails in the park connect to other trails in the forest.

Hyde Memorial State Park offers a visitor center, three group picnic shelters and 50 developed campsites, 7 of which offer electric hookups. Central to the campground loop are restrooms and a playground. The park has a centrally located RV dump station. Hyde Memorial State Park offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing (in season) in addition to the hiking, camping, picnicking, mountain biking and wildlife watching. The park also offers the Hyde Memorial Lodge for business and meeting rentals: $500 per day with a $200 refundable cleaning deposit.

The entry gate to Hyde Memorial State Park is open from 8 am to 10 pm year round but the main campground loop is usually closed from mid-September into May. The park contains 350 acres of land at a mean elevation of 8,500'.

Fees: Day-use: $5 per vehicle; Pedestrians and bicyclists get in free. Camping: Primitive sites: $8 per site per night. Developed sites: $10 per site per night. Developed site with either electric or sewer: $14 per site per night. Developed site with both electric and sewer: $18 per site per night. Water hookups aren't always available but when they are, they're free.
