Evansville, Wyoming
Evansville is beside the North Platte River
Evansville is a suburb of Casper, located on the north and east sides of town. Evansville is home to the Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park on the North Platte River. Evansville is named in honor of W.T. Evans, an English immigrant who homesteaded a plot of land here in 1902. Between 1918 and 1920 the oil business in the area was booming and Evans sold part of his ranch to a couple of oil companies (Socony-Mobil and Texas Oil) to build refineries on. When the refinery workers came, they needed places to live so Evans had more of the ranch surveyed and platted in 1921. By August, 1922, all 222 platted lots were sold. By early 1923, Evansville had a population of about 150, and has been growing continuously ever since.
