Beaver Creek Resort
Beaver Creek area, early fall
One of Colorado's premier family-friendly resorts, Beaver Creek offers a plethora of year-round special activities for children of all ages. One of the most popular is the Black Family Ice Rink, a 150-foot long by 65 foot wide ice skating rink that is open year-round ($2 per person with skate rentals available - open 10 AM to 9 PM in winter, 6 PM to 10 PM in summer).
Beaver Creek Resort is also home to the famous Vilar Center for the Arts with its special Children's Theater performances (888-920-ARTS for more info). Located in the heart of Beaver Creek Village, this intimate theater was inspired by a small, turn-of-the-century opera house in Munich, Germany. The Vilar Center serves as a focal point in the village offering world-class performances in music, dance, film, drama, and children's entertainment on a caliber with the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
But the skiers and snowboarders come here for the mountain itself - and the pristine powder. For snowboarders and freestylers there's 4 terrain parks and 1 halfpipe. For skiers there's the Birds of Prey Men's World Cup - usually in early December.
Along with Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge and Heavenly, Beaver Creek Resort is operated by Vail Resorts Management Company. This is an area where you'll find multiple ski-condos, resorts and vacation homes available.
